Why Layouts Matter
The layout you choose sets the tone for each page of your photo book. Whether you want a clean single-photo spread or a dynamic multi-photo collage, Recollect Studio gives you over 200 professionally designed layouts to make every page unique.
Step 1: Open a Page in Your Book
Navigate to the page you want to customize. Tap anywhere on the page to select it and reveal the editing toolbar at the bottom of the screen.
Step 2: Browse Available Layouts
Tap the layout icon in the toolbar to open the layout picker. You’ll see a scrollable grid of layout thumbnails organized by style:
- Single photo — One large photo fills the entire page, perfect for hero shots and standout moments
- Two-photo — Side-by-side or stacked arrangements for before-and-after comparisons or complementary images
- Three-photo — Asymmetric and balanced options for telling a mini story on a single page
- Four+ photo collage — Grid and mosaic layouts for event coverage, travel highlights, or day-in-the-life spreads
- Full-bleed — Edge-to-edge photo layouts with no borders for a dramatic, immersive look
- Text-focused — Layouts with dedicated space for captions, journal entries, or quotes alongside your photos
Step 3: Preview and Apply
Tap any layout thumbnail to instantly preview it on your page. Your photos will be repositioned to fit the new arrangement. If you don’t like it, simply tap a different layout — your photos won’t be lost.
Step 4: Fine-Tune the Result
After applying a layout, you can further customize the page:
- Drag individual photos to swap their positions within the layout
- Pinch and zoom to adjust cropping on any photo
- Tap a photo to replace it with a different image from your camera roll
Tips for Choosing the Right Layout
- Mix it up — Avoid using the same layout on consecutive pages to keep your photo book visually interesting
- Match the moment — Use single-photo layouts for your best shots and multi-photo collages for groups of related images
- Leave breathing room — Pages with fewer photos can feel more elegant and let your best images shine
- Think about flow — Alternate between busy collage pages and simpler layouts to create a natural reading rhythm
